The Organizing Committee of the 6th East Asian Symposium on Otology (EASO 2018) would like to sincerely thank all invited speakers who will share their knowledge at the meeting with participants from around the world. To ensure your presentation runs smoothly, we would ask you to refer to the following guidelines.

1. Preparing a Session Presentation

1) Language: English

  • The official language of the EASO 2018 is English.

2) Presentation: 18 minutes

  • 18 minutes will be allocated for each presentation including Q&A.
  • The session will run on an extremely tight schedule, therefore we ask all speakers and chairpersons to be at their designated rooms at least 15 minutes before their session begins. You may refer to the preliminary program which is available at the EASO 2018 official website in May.
  • Speakers will be responsible for controlling/advancing slides during their presentations.

3) A/V Equipment

  • Presentation rooms will be equipped with the following items: A computer running Windows with MS Office 2013, which is the most stable version, but MS Office 2007 and 2010 are also available, along with Acrobat Reader 8.0 and Windows Media Player, a beam projector, and a microphone.
  • There will be an AV technician to assist with any technical issues.
  • We recommend you to upload your presentation file in advance to review the file. If you bring your own laptop, please inform the Secretariat in order to avoid any technical problems in advance.
  • An Apple Mac book user must bring the Mini Display Port-VGA Adapter for his/her laptop.

4) Presentation Material Format

  • We recommend that all speakers prepare their presentation materials using Microsoft Office PowerPoint (PPT) and keep files under 35 MB.
  • Use a standard font such as Times New Roman, Arial or Tahoma which will be included on the session room computers. If you use any special or unique fonts, your presentation may not appear correctly on the session room computers.
  • We encourage speakers not to use an overabundance of images. Images at a resolution higher than 300 dpi are not necessary. JPG, GIF or BMP images are the recommended file format for inserted images.
  • Use of animations should be kept to minimum.
  • Bring your video files in WMV, MPEG or AVI format with your final presentation.
  • To avoid any commercial bias, all speakers should disclose relevant conflicts of interest to participants in a statement on their second slide of presentation. No trade names should be used for drugs, devices and/or instrumentation including lasers.

2. Preview Room

  • You may review your file before uploading to the system in Preview Room (Lower Lobby Floor).
  • When reviewing your presentation, please make sure all fonts and images appear as expected and that all audio or video clips are working properly. Computers in the session rooms will be identical to those in the Preview Room.
  • Preview Room Schedule will be informed in May.

3. Presentation Material Submission

1) On-site Submission

  • Please bring your presentation files on a USB drive to the Preview Room at least 3 hours before your scheduled presentation.
  • After you have finished reviewing and/or making changes to your presentation, you must notify an A/V technician so that they can review and upload your files onto the PCs connected to each session room.

2) Your presentation files will not be released to any third parties.
